    Geography :

Ambegaon taluka is a taluka in Shirur subdivision of Pune district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Ambegaon village is about 70 km from the district headquarters Pune. One of the most revered Shiva temples or Jyotirlingas is Bhimashankar Temple in Khed taluka. However, due to the Bhimashankar Sanctuary, the road passes through Ambegaon taluka. This taluka is located at the eastern foothills of the Sahyadri mountain range and to the west of Pune city. The administrative boundaries of the taluka run from Bhimashankar town in the north to Loni in the south and from Peth in the east to Kalamb in the west. Due to the pattern of rainfall, this taluka is geographically divided into two parts. The northern part of the taluka receives much less rainfall than the hilly southern part of the taluka. One of the reasons for this is that on 29 July 2014, the Malin landslide occurred in the village of Malin in this taluka, in which about 200 people were buried. The entire village of Malin was buried under the mountain soil due to heavy rains in this landslide. Now this village has been rebuilt in a completely new place with all the necessary facilities and people have been given a place to live.

    Rivers:

    Meena, Ghodnadi, Velnadi.

The taluka is blessed with 13 dams on the Ghodnadi, which is a Kolhapur system, making it a water-friendly taluka.

    Dams:-

Hutatma Babugenu Reservoir i.e. ‘Dimba’ Dam, which has a right and left canal and its water is used for agriculture. This dam is a large dam for water storage. It was constructed in 1992-93. It has a water storage capacity of 13.5 TMC.
