Geography
Daund taluka is surrounded by Mulamutha in the north, the giant valley of the Bhima river, the Pune-Solapur highway parallel to it in the south, the Pune-Solapur railway line in the middle, the Shirur-Satara highway intersecting all three, and the national highway. Daund taluka is surrounded by lush green agriculture and abundant natural resources. According to local folklore, the name of Daund taluka is believed to have been derived from the name of sage Dhaumya. This taluka is trying to attract tourists from other parts of Pune city. In the last 10 years, 7 private agri-tourism centers have been built in agriculture in the western part of Daund to attract Pune people. Currently, tourists are visiting these centers. Apart from this, important pilgrimage sites, historical sites and social sites in Daund are attracting tourists. The Ashtavinayak Marg of 4 of the Ashtavinayak Ganpati temples in the state, namely Morgaon, Siddhatek, Ranjangaon Ganapati, Theur, passes through Daund taluka. Due to this, communication facilities have increased. The Headquarters of Daund Taluka is in Daund city itself. Sugar industry is the mainstay of the economy. There are 81 Gram Panchayats and 102 revenue villages in the taluka.

Rail Transport Daund Railway Junction: An important station on the Central Railway. Junction of the Pune–Solapur, Manmad–Daund, and Baramati–Daund railway lines. Both freight and passenger traffic is large. Long-distance trains (Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Bhusawal etc.) stop here. National Highway (NH-65): Pune–Solapur–Hyderabad route passes through Daund taluka.
State Highway: Daund–Baramati, Daund–Shirur, private and MSRT bus services available. Truck and tempo network capable for freight transport.
